Reforestation and Agroforestry

The Oda Kotoamso Community Agroforestry Project (OCAP) was initiated by Samartex in 1997 and is officially supported by the Development Service of Germany (DED).

Some 300 local households on a total acreage of 450ha adjacent to one of the Samartex forest concessions are involved in this very successful project for sustainable resource management and reforestation.

Social Activities

Samartex's location makes it responsible not only for its 2000 plus employees but for their dependents, averaging approximately 15,000. Samartex is responsible for social activities like medical care, education, road construction, water, electricity generation etc. in and around Samreboi.

For its own requirement of about 100 people in managerial positions Samartex has implemented its own human resource development programme.
