There are a number of activities and developments at Samartex, which we would like to share on a regular basis with our customers, friends, shareholders, employees and all those who take an interest in what we are doing.
2004 First carving classes to start in April 2004
With the arrival of Mr. Ulrich Stephan, our woodworking designer, the establishment of the carving school is on schedule.
From April onwards 20 young students will be trained in design and product development, carving and lathe turning.
Applications for participation in the three year training course should be directed to the Human Resource Manager at Samartex.
Pre-qualification in design, artwork or a technical subject is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

2004 Thaumatin factory to commence operations
Samreboi, Jan 2004.
After a 15 month research and testing process into the extraction of Thaumatin from the Katemfe plant, Samartex has now installed all machinery and equipement.
The collection of fruits commenced in August and the first sample of Thaumatin will be available in April 2004.
