The Samartex wood carving section, EcoCraft, was established in January 2002, today boasts of 15 skilled craftsmen and a woodworking engineer.
EcoCraft was established to set up a professional apprentice workshop to impart carving skills to small farming communities whose woodcarving tradition has existed for many years.
The Project whilst adding value to wood not previously used, is a source of income to the rural woodcarver.

The products reflect the ecological variety of the tropical rainforest.
EcoCraft carvings have an unmistakable African flavor and reflect the peaceful cultural melting pot that is Ghana. Uncomplicated, warm and open just like the country and its people.

The products are deerived mostly from off-cuts or parts of the tree not otherwise having commercial value. This includes butt-resses, roots and branches.
