Samartex product: Curls

In 1996 Samartex was the first company in Ghana that started producing crotch veneers. Sometimes termed “curl” which is manufactured from the intersection of the limb or branch with the main trunk.

Equipped with two special designed horizontal slicers, Samartex has reached a monthly output of 26,000spm.

Traditionally used in USA and Europe for high quality architectural woodwork, Samartex “Curls” are well known for their good average length and superb “feather”.

Qualities:
  • Thickness 0.7mm in length from 50cm up to 270cm
  • Grading A+, A, AB, B+, B, B- and C
Species:

African Mahogany (Khaya ivorensis)

  • Typical red-brown

  • African Walnut (Lovoa Klaineana)

    Distinctive golden brown heartwood with darker streaks.

    Asanfena (Aningeria spp)

    Heartwood and sapwood red brown to pink.

    Entedua / Etimoe (Copaifera salikounda)

    Drak reddish brown with veining

    Makore (Tieghmella heckelii)

    Dark red-brown heartwood.

    Sapelewood (Entandrophragma cylindricum)

    Heartwood pinkish red of Mahogany colour.
